Huawei's upcoming sub-brand reportedly to be named Osta
Huawei's upcoming sub-brand has reportedly received an English name, Osta, according to two leakers whom the report describes as reliable. The name is also said to appear on retail packaging.
Osta replaces earlier working name
A report last month claimed Huawei was preparing a sub-brand called Xingmang, which translates to Starlight or Starburst. According to the newer leaks, the English name will instead be Osta.
A separate tipster had warned that Starlight and Starburst were only a translation and might not become the brand's actual name.
Background on the company
Huawei is a telecommunications and electronics company based in Shenzhen. It was founded in 1987 and employed about 105,000 people in 2021.
Open questions
- Will Huawei officially confirm the Osta name?
- Will the Osta name appear on products as the leakers claim?
