Huawei launches Router X2 and X2 Pro Wi-Fi 7+ routers in China
Huawei has launched the Router X2 and Router X2 Pro in China, with sales starting straight after the announcement, according to a report by Gizmochina. Both models use a book-style design that keeps their antennas out of sight.
Colours and swappable covers
The standard Router X2 comes in white. The X2 Pro is offered in Earth Brown, Oak White and Stone Gray, and those shades belong to the magnetic cover, which owners can replace as they wish.
Huawei also showed a Spruce Green model but gave no date for its release. The X2 Pro's shell can additionally be produced on a 3D printer, with downloadable files available for users who want their own design.
Hardware and physical size
Both routers measure 191.7 mm in height, 51.1 mm in width and 141.1 mm in length. The standard unit weighs roughly 440 g, while the Pro weighs around 475 g.
Both run a Lingxiao 760-series chip, which Huawei says is designed to operate closely with its phones, tablets and other devices to limit compatibility-related drops in performance. Four signal amplifiers and a smart antenna work alongside the chip, and an algorithm picks the most suitable signal path. The internal hardware provides 256 MB of RAM and 128 MB of storage, and power draw stays below 18 W.
Speed and connectivity claims
The routers support dual-band Wi-Fi 7, with theoretical maxima of 688 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band and 2,882 Mbps on 5 GHz, giving a combined theoretical figure of 3,570 Mbps. Neither model supports the 6 GHz band.
Huawei claims the routers can raise speeds by 100% in weak-signal areas and reduce latency by 80%. Each model has one 2.5G Ethernet port and three gigabit Ethernet ports, and all four can switch automatically between WAN and LAN roles. Both support mesh networking over wired and wireless connections.
Through the Huawei Smart Life app, users can upload a floor plan, and the company's AI then recommends where to place the router.
