Apple may be testing a large foldable iPad inspired by Huawei's MateBook Fold

A leak reported by Gizmochina suggests Apple could be developing a large foldable iPad whose overall design might draw on Huawei's MateBook Fold. The claim comes from a Chinese tipster, and Apple has not confirmed it.
What the leak claims
According to the report, the Chinese tipster @Kang has claimed that Apple is testing a foldable giant tablet and that its overall design might take some cues from Huawei's MateBook Fold.
When opened, the device is expected to provide an 18- to 20-inch display area, yet it should remain fairly easy to carry once folded.
Suppliers and earlier predictions
Corning's glass is expected to be the sole glass material supplier, while General Interface Solutions (GIS) would take on the essential backend tasks, covering cutting, edge finishing, quality inspection and packaging.
The report is consistent with earlier forecasts from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has pointed to a foldable iPad around 2028. Kuo has also said the device would rely on an ultra-thin glass (UTG) cover. The same suppliers are already associated with Apple's wider foldable plans, including the forthcoming foldable iPhone.
Huawei's comparable device
For context, Huawei's latest MateBook Fold, powered by the Kirin X90 Plus, arrived in August 2026 with a starting price of 24,999 yuan.
