Anthropic discloses $16.3 billion first-half revenue in draft IPO filing
Anthropic, the San Francisco-based artificial intelligence company behind Claude, has disclosed $16.3 billion in first-half 2026 revenue and an $80.7 billion net loss in a draft registration statement submitted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission. The document is the first formal move toward an initial public offering tentatively planned for November 2026.
What the draft filing shows
Both figures come from the draft S-1, which places the developer of the Claude model family at $16.3 billion in revenue for the first six months of 2026. Over the same period the company posted a net loss of $80.7 billion.
According to the filing, that loss is driven predominantly by non-cash accounting adjustments tied to earlier financing rounds. As Anthropic's valuation rose, those adjustments grew substantially on paper.
Growth set against 2025
Revenue for the whole of 2025 came to approximately $4.6 billion, a figure that itself was more than twelve times the level recorded in 2024. The 2025 numbers follow a similar pattern: a GAAP net loss of roughly $42 billion, but an operating loss of $8.06 billion once non-cash items are stripped out, with compute and infrastructure spending accounting for $7.33 billion of that year.
Third-quarter revenue and profitability claim
Anthropic also reported third-quarter 2026 revenue of $16.8 billion, sequential growth of about 45 to 46 percent from the second quarter, when revenue landed between $11.5 billion and $11.6 billion. The company said it reached adjusted profitability and positive cash flow during that quarter.
Future spending commitments
The draft also sets out future obligations, with at least $518 billion committed to compute, cloud and infrastructure spending over roughly ten years.
Open questions
- Will the offering go ahead on the tentatively scheduled November 2026 timetable?
- How will the non-cash adjustments behind the $80.7 billion loss be presented in the final filing?
