Apple has rolled out iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2, the first major updates to systems that arrived in September, and the release extends Siri AI to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, according to MacRumors.
Siri AI adds five languages
Siri AI now understands French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, and the update lets it recall earlier conversations, so a user can return to a restaurant it once recommended. It also draws on a wider range of material, including photos attached to Messages, Calendar event attendees, voicemails, and Safari history and Reading List.
German is not among the added languages. According to the report, the new Siri remains limited to Mac and Vision Pro in the European Union.
Messages, TV and privacy changes
The update adds profiles to the Apple TV app, a new icon and branding for Apple Music, and AI suggestions in Messages that offer quick actions in apps such as Calendar and Reminders. In the European Union it introduces an alternative, expanded prompt for App Tracking Transparency.
The Excluded Apps feature has been redesigned so users can choose, in one place, which apps Siri, Search and suggestions may access. The earlier App Access feature required excluding apps one at a time.
Features for the iPhone Duo
The update brings Apple Pencil support to the iPhone Duo, which Apple had said would arrive later this year, along with an Edge Light feature intended to illuminate the user's face during video calls. The company's first foldable has a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch outer screen.
Multiview now reaches the iPhone, allowing users to watch up to four live sports streams at once for events included in an Apple TV subscription, such as Major League Soccer, Formula 1 in the U.S. and Friday Night Baseball doubleheaders. Multiview was previously available on the Apple TV 4K and the Vision Pro.
Security fixes and parallel releases
Apple is also seeding the update to supported iPhone models with fixes for more than 160 security vulnerabilities. macOS 27.2 and watchOS 27.2 were released alongside it, and Siri AI is available in the new languages on the iPhone 15 Pro series and iPhone 16 models.
