WORLDTECHCoolpad starts selling wide-screen Cool X Wide in China from CNY 999
Coolpad has started selling the Cool X Wide, an Android smartphone with a wide display, in China after a slight delay from its October announcement. Priced far below Huawei's Pura X View, the device trades premium hardware for entry-level specifications.
Three configurations now on sale
Buyers can choose among three configurations, all listed on JD.com. The base model pairs 8GB of RAM with 128GB of storage and starts at CNY 999, roughly $150 or €134. A version with the same RAM and 256GB of storage is priced at CNY 1,199, around $180 or €161.
A budget counterpart to the Pura X View
Notebookcheck presents the phone as Coolpad's take on the Huawei Pura X View, a device from the Shenzhen-based telecommunications and electronics company. The Pura X View starts at CNY 5,999, about $899 or €806, which leaves the Cool X Wide at a fraction of that cost. According to the report, the phone is aimed at buyers on a budget who still want the new form factor, and its lower price comes with lower-end specifications.
Entry-level hardware throughout
The 6.38-inch display offers a 720 × 1158 resolution, a 16:10 aspect ratio and a 90Hz refresh rate. A MediaTek Helio G99 processor powers the handset, supported by LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. Despite its large camera visor, the phone carries a single 50MP rear camera alongside an 8MP front sensor. A 4,600mAh battery supports 18W wired charging.
