According to XDA, a fan-made recompilation of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom now runs natively on Apple silicon, including the M4 chip. Nintendo is likely unhappy with the very unofficial port.

Frame rates on Apple silicon

The recompilation was built for Apple silicon and reaches 90 fps during gameplay, a figure the report says surpasses a competing PC port of the game.

The report also says the Mac version posts higher frame rates than the Switch 2 edition of the title.

Download requires separate game files

Fans can obtain the project from GitHub. Running it, however, requires supplying their own game files.

The release is an unofficial port, and the facts show no involvement from Nintendo or Apple.

Mac arrives ahead of Windows

The report suggests Mac has, for once, received a game before PC, though only through a very unofficial port.

Open questions

  • Will Nintendo take action against the project?
  • How stable is the recompilation across different Mac configurations?
