Anthropic opens Claude Duet, a proactive AI agent, to US Pro and Max waitlist
Anthropic has introduced Claude Duet, a proactive AI agent that monitors work applications, takes on tasks without being asked for each step and seeks approval before consequential actions. Access is opening through a waitlist limited to Claude Pro and Max subscribers in the US, according to a report from Crypto Briefing.
What the agent does
Duet runs on Claude Opus 5.5, the model Anthropic chose to power the agent, and draws on the memory and skills already attached to a user's existing Claude account. It is designed to watch applications such as email and calendars, surface items that need attention and handle chores like scheduling and invoicing without prompting for each step.
While a user is away, Duet keeps working in the background on the items in its queue. It asks for sign-off before taking major actions, and Anthropic says that such oversight is necessary for decisions involving financial or legal matters.
Availability and cost
Anthropic is describing the launch as a research preview. Duet ships as standalone mobile apps for iOS and Android and is also available through the claude.ai website. Users can keep talking to it continuously by text or voice.
Team and Enterprise plans are not yet included. Background activity by Duet counts toward usage limits, just as other Claude features do, a point heavy users will want to note.
Who it is aimed at
Anthropic said it built Duet for professionals and small business owners who have more work than they can track. Anthropic is an artificial intelligence company based in San Francisco whose products include Claude and Claude Code.
The report comes from a single outlet, Crypto Briefing, and the details of the rollout beyond the waitlist have not been independently confirmed.
