Anthropic has introduced Claude Duet, a proactive AI agent aimed at professionals and small business owners, and is letting select users in the United States join a waitlist for early access. The report is based on a single outlet and has not been independently verified through Anthropic's official channels.

What the agent is designed to do

According to the report, Claude Duet connects to a user's apps and surfaces items that need attention, then completes tasks on its own. It can work in the cloud without needing local access to a computer, and it runs a virtual machine with its own browser to carry out those tasks.

Anthropic said the product was built for people with too much to track, such as professionals and small business owners, because those users are most likely to benefit from it.

Access and positioning against rivals

Anthropic is presenting Duet as a research preview. Subscribers on the Pro and Max plans can request access through a waitlist, and the report describes the agent as a rival to Meta's Muse agent and OpenAI's Dots agent, which the report says work in a similar proactive way.

The report also says the agent is built around Claude Opus 5.5 and is offered as a standalone app as well as through Claude on the web.
