Google's Gemini app now allows files to be revised within the chat window rather than downloaded first. The update applies to a wide range of document, spreadsheet, presentation and code formats.

Editing now happens inside the app

Google had already enabled Gemini to generate and download files earlier this year. The newer change means those files can be tweaked without leaving the Gemini app.

According to the reporting, users can generate, preview and edit PDFs, Google Docs, Google Sheets, slide decks, Markdown and TXT files, as well as code, directly within Google Gemini.

Limitations on mobile and in some regions

The reporting says the editing tools streamline workflows and boost productivity. It also highlights ongoing mobile and regional limitations, although the sources do not describe their scope.
