WORLDTECHApple Rolls Out Pill-Shaped Mac Power Adapters and Relaunches Travel Kit
Apple has begun selling refreshed 70W and 140W power adapters and a matching extension cable, all built around a new AC Connector 2, MacRumors reports. The company has also restocked its World Travel Adapter Kit, which vanished from its online store in 2025.
Revised adapters now listed online
Apple is now selling newer editions of its 70W Power Adapter, 140W Power Adapter and Power Adapter Extension Cable, each equipped with the AC Connector 2. Customers in the U.S. can place orders for the accessories through Apple's online store.
The most noticeable difference lies in the plug. Where the earlier AC Connector 1 has a notch, the AC Connector 2 takes a pill-shaped form.
Travel kit comes back with new plugs
The World Travel Adapter Kit has reappeared in an updated edition after leaving Apple's online store in 2025. It is sold for use in the U.S. and many other countries. Every international AC plug included in the kit also now carries the AC Connector 2.
Apple points to updated regulations
A new Apple support document states that the adapters, extension cable and plugs adopt the pill-shaped AC Connector 2 to meet updated regulations. The report does not say which rules are meant.
Open questions
- Which updated regulations call for the AC Connector 2 design?
- Will the new plug arrive in markets outside the U.S. on the same schedule?
