Microsoft reports Azure cloud revenue of $33.2 billion for September quarter

Microsoft has disclosed that its Azure cloud business generated $33.2 billion in revenue in the September quarter, according to a report by TechCrunch AI. The figure is the first quarterly Azure revenue number the company has published in dollars.
Azure growth beats the company's own forecast
Azure's revenue climbed 48% from a year earlier, an increase of $10.8 billion, which Microsoft attributed to demand for services across the platform in its quarterly filing. The result exceeded both Microsoft's own forecast and Wall Street's expectations, according to GeekWire's reporting.
Analysts have read the growth as a sign that Microsoft is selling cloud and AI computing capacity about as quickly as it can bring that capacity online.
Wider results and spending figures
Total revenue rose 19% to $92.3 billion for the quarter, which Microsoft described as the start of fiscal year 2027. Net income for the period was $36.6 billion.
Capital spending came to $45.2 billion, below the company's forecast of more than $50 billion.
A new reporting structure
Microsoft broke out Azure's quarterly revenue for the first time under its new financial structure, which is why the figure is now visible as a separate line item.
