Microsoft Edge reworks new tab page with smarter recommendations and more video

Microsoft has reworked the new tab page in its Edge browser to offer smarter recommendations, more video and a broader mix of voices, according to a post on the Microsoft Windows Blog. The new experience is available now in five countries.
Recommendations and design changes
According to the post, the redesign builds on the Edge new tab page, which has long helped people find stories and content from across the web. The update pairs a more intuitive design with recommendations intended to surface material that matters to the user and to the wider world.
Users can follow the day's trending stories, browse articles and videos suited to their interests, and explore the topics they care about most in more depth. The page includes trusted content from 1,500 premium publishers, among them USA TODAY, Business Insider and PEOPLE, alongside perspectives from creators.
More video and a broader range of formats
Video plays a far larger part in the new layout, with more prominent placement and recommendations. The page is designed to cover everything from breaking news to niche interests in one place.
The expanded Curated by Copilot feature uses AI to combine perspectives from several articles into a single view, shaped around what a user cares about. According to the post, this lets readers grasp a topic quickly and then open the original reporting for more depth.
Availability and rollout
The new content experience is available today when a user opens a new tab in Edge on desktop, or opens the Discover dashboard from the Windows taskbar. It is offered in the US, Canada, UK, Australia and India.
The announcement comes from Microsoft's own Windows blog and has not been independently assessed.
