Developers will be able to integrate file share functionality directly into their apps instead of requiring users to first open the system Share sheet and launch the fullscreen Quick Share experience. The Quick Share SDK is coming in the first half of 2027.

Google touts capabilities like: Privacy at its core with E2E data transfer : Quick Share is end-to-end encrypted “between both devices as the transfers happen between those local networks.” Low latency (the delay between asking for something and getting it) and maximum transfer speed : The SDK automatically handles hotspot creation and leverages Wi-Fi Direct on supported devices. No need to compress photos/videos Works offline even without cellular network : For offline sharing use cases and constrained data environments.
