Instagram has released an app for Apple TV, giving the platform its first presence on Apple's streaming device, including Reels, longer videos and live shows. The launch extends a television rollout the company began earlier this year on other devices.

What the Apple TV app offers

Viewers can follow favourite creators, discover videos and resume playback started on another device. Instagram presents the app as a way to watch together with friends and family, carrying its video experience into the living room.

According to the report, the app appears to have launched on October 23, a date that matches the version information Apple attaches to the television release.

A staged rollout across TV platforms

Instagram first trialled its TV app on Amazon Fire TV devices in the United States in December 2025. Google TV came next in February 2026 and Samsung smart TVs in June, ahead of the Apple TV version.

The sequence suggests the company is bringing its video features to larger screens one platform at a time rather than in a single launch.

Compatibility before the launch

An archived App Store listing dated October 19 still showed compatibility with the iPhone and iPad alone, indicating that Apple TV support was added at or shortly before release.

Apple is a software and consumer electronics company based in Cupertino, and its products and services include the Apple Watch.
