The ARM Institute says its member consortium has grown to more than 500 organizations across the country, according to The Robot Report. The announcement came as the institute prepares to host its 10th annual member meeting in Pittsburgh.

Consortium spans industry, academia and government

The institute says its membership now counts more than 500 organizations, with thousands of individual subject matter experts represented within them. Members range from manufacturers of all sizes and defense contractors to providers of robotics and AI systems, research universities, community colleges, vocational schools, government entities and startups.

The institute describes the consortium as expansive, saying it bridges gaps and brings varied perspectives together to advance robotics, physical AI and workforce solutions aimed at strengthening domestic manufacturing.

Funding, events and the member community

Membership is held at the organizational level. According to the institute, it provides access to funding opportunities, member-exclusive events and a digital community where members can collaborate virtually.

The annual member meeting in Pittsburgh convenes experts from across the consortium and from the U.S. government.

Recent project calls and requests

Last month the institute issued a project call from the U.S. Navy addressing needs in the shipbuilding industrial base. This month it put out a request for proposals for a skills gap analysis of a localized talent supply chain supporting the organic and defense industrial base.

Background to the institute

Founded in 2017, the ARM Institute is a Manufacturing Innovation Institute funded by the Office of the Secretary of War under Agreement No. W911NF-17-3-0004 and part of the Manufacturing USA network. It works with its consortium and partners across industry, academia and government to promote U.S. manufacturing leadership through robotics and AI.
