Nirva Labs has secured $33 million for an AI device worn around the neck that listens and builds a personal journal from voice and sensor data. The round, announced on October 22, 2026, came only a few months after an $8 million seed raise in July, and the company was founded in 2025.

How the pendant builds its journal

Described as a diary that writes itself, the device takes in speech through voice input and reads a set of onboard sensors. From that data it assembles a running personal journal. Reporting says the journal covers emotional insights, mood tracking and an analysis of the wearer's relationships.

The hardware comprises dual microphones, an inertial measurement unit (IMU) that tracks movement and orientation, and ALS and UV sensors. ALS stands for ambient light sensing, while the UV sensor measures ultraviolet exposure. The device carries an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, weighs roughly 7.5 to 10 grams and is made from hypoallergenic titanium. It can be worn as a pendant, a necklace or a bracelet.

Funding timeline and the CES showing

Nirva first showed the device publicly at CES 2026, where it was selected as one of the top three startups. Its $8 million seed round closed in July 2026 and was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners together with South Park Commons. The $33 million round followed only a few months later.

Local processing as the privacy answer

Nirva says it carries out as much processing as possible on the device itself, rather than sending unprocessed data to remote servers. The company presents this local approach as its response to privacy concerns that arise when a wearable AI captures personal information continuously.

What buyers can expect next

According to the reporting, preorders are expected to open before shipping begins. The available material gives no shipping date.
