Anbernic's RG 55G1, the company's first handheld powered by a Qualcomm processor, is now available to buy on Amazon in two configurations. According to a report by Notebookcheck, the Amazon prices are higher than on the manufacturer's own website, although buyers receive free shipping.

Two configurations now available on Amazon

The Anbernic RG 55G1 is now available to buy on Amazon in both of its configurations. Notebookcheck reports that the handheld, which the manufacturer sells under this name, comes in a version with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage and a version with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Both are offered in Black, Gray and Indigo.

The device has a design reminiscent of the Nintendo Switch Lite. It features a 5.5-inch IPS LCD panel with a 1920 × 1080 resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate.

Amazon prices compared with the manufacturer

On Anbernic's website, the two configurations are priced at $149.99 and $174.99. The company offers buyers a $10 discount there. On Amazon, the 4GB RAM version sells for 179.99 and the 8GB RAM version costs $219.99, so both are more expensive.

The higher Amazon prices are partly offset by shipping. Anbernic's website prices do not include shipping costs, whereas Amazon ships both configurations for free.

Background to the first Qualcomm-powered model

Notebookcheck notes that a few months earlier Anbernic had released its first handheld powered by a Qualcomm processor. Qualcomm is a semiconductor and telecommunications company based in San Diego, and its products include the Snapdragon range. The RG 55G1 is the device that now appears on Amazon.
