Librería de Satoshi, a technical education organisation that started as a Bitcoin school for Spanish speakers in Latin America, has rebranded as ISMOS and presented a global platform meant to train one million Bitcoin and Freedom Tech developers, Bitcoin Magazine reports.

Courses run in several languages

The platform pairs demanding study programmes with direct mentoring and fellowships, currently offered in Spanish, Portuguese and English, with more languages to follow. Its tools are published as open source and can be inspected at github.com/ismos-xyz.

In its own description, ISMOS is a place where educators and technology builders can learn and pass on Freedom Tech values, and it says its presence in universities, bootcamps and programming communities is growing.

From one school to a wider network

The organisation traces its roots to a school for Spanish-speaking Bitcoin learners and now presents itself as a broader technical education ecosystem covering freedom technologies and open-source development. A press release shared with Bitcoin Magazine states that since 2021 it has reached more than 3,665 people in over 40 countries and has financially supported 30 open-source developers.

ISMOS plans to widen its reach by setting up local hubs around the world and teaching in local languages. Btrust and the Human Rights Foundation are its main backers today, while OpenSats and the Gemini Opportunity Fund previously supported its work with smaller grants, the release says.

Equal opportunity placed at centre

According to the release, the rebrand reflects almost five years of growth and a firmer commitment to equal opportunity. The organisation argues that a developer in Argentina, Nigeria or El Salvador should have the same route into a first-class technical career as someone in Silicon Valley or London.

These details come from the press release as reported by Bitcoin Magazine; the reach and funding figures have not been independently checked.
