UK operators search 6.7 times more for CRM and ERP than for cash-cycle tools as factory robots pass five million
What happened
UK operators are searching about 6.7 times more for CRM and ERP software than for the tools that turn completed work into cash, according to a Klipboard analysis of UK search data, at a time when the number of industrial robots working in factories worldwide has reached around five million. The gap matters because every installed robot and production cell eventually depends on field service work: an engineer booked, a fault fixed, a visit signed off and an invoice raised.
What the search ranking shows The analysis covers UK monthly search volume through August 2026. CRM software draws about 8,900 UK searches a month and ERP software about 5,400, a combined 14,300.
Gabriel Cohen, VP of Go-To-Market at Klipboard , a field service management platform, said the finding points to a commercial habit rather than a shortage of technology. “The search bar is still voting for planning suites,” Cohen said.
“CRM and ERP draw about 6.7 times the demand of cash-cycle tools, and field service sits near a thousand monthly searches. That is how field work stays busy and finance stays late. The job gets done, the record stays fragmented, and the invoice waits.” Field service management software, the scheduling and dispatch layer used by engineers who maintain automated plant, sits at about 1,000 UK monthly searches.
It is used in the analysis as a labelled baseline and is not part of the 6.7 times ratio. Automation is moving faster than the systems around it The physical side of industry has travelled a long way.
The International Federation of Robotics reported in September 2026 that around five million industrial robots now operate in factories globally. Figures published by Cisco in April 2026 show 61% of enterprises already using AI in live industrial operations, 20% with deployments scaled to a mature level and 83% planning to increase AI spend.
