Apple has reportedly sold out the whole first week's allocation of its iPhone Duo in India, days before the device goes on sale. The most expensive iPhone in the range is the company's first foldable model, according to sources cited by YourStory.

Pre-bookings concentrated in two stores

Pre-orders for the iPhone Duo opened in India on October 16. According to the report, the Apple Stores in BKC in Mumbai and in Saket in New Delhi have logged the highest pre-booking figures for the ultra-premium device.

A person familiar with inventory movement, quoted by PTI, said the first week's stock is entirely sold out in India and that the two stores are very close to one another in booking numbers.

Walk-in buyers unlikely to be served

The sellout means the iPhone Duo will not be on offer to customers arriving without a booking at Apple Stores. Buyers who have not pre-booked will have to rely on later supply.

Competition in foldable devices

Analysts estimate the iPhone Duo could take around 24% of the foldable device segment, where it will compete with the Samsung Z Fold 8 series, also available in India.

The 24% figure is an analyst estimate and has not been confirmed by Apple.
