Clients of BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust, known as IBIT, put $29.86 million into the fund on a trading day in October 2026, according to Crypto Briefing. The sum is small for a fund that leads the US spot Bitcoin ETF market.

What the inflow number measures

The figure is a net flow: it counts the money entering the fund and subtracts the money leaving it. When the result is positive, the fund generally has to acquire more Bitcoin to back the new shares investors are taking on.

A spot Bitcoin ETF holds actual Bitcoin and trades on a conventional stock exchange, so investors can buy its shares through an ordinary brokerage account. New shares are created against genuine Bitcoin purchases, and redemptions work the same way in reverse.

IBIT's position among rival funds

Since its launch in January 2024, IBIT has accumulated more than $65 billion in cumulative net inflows. As of mid-October 2026, US spot Bitcoin ETFs held roughly $105 billion to $107 billion in assets, and IBIT accounts for about 62 percent of that figure.

On a given day the fund often captures more than half of all Bitcoin ETF flows. On October 19, 2026, it logged a single-day inflow of $665.2 million, a sum larger than all other Bitcoin ETFs combined.

Crypto Briefing argues that this lead points to strong institutional confidence and pushes competitors to innovate in order to hold their market share.

Price backdrop in October

Bitcoin traded between $78,700 and $85,000 during early to mid October 2026, a band the report describes as relatively stable within broader volatility.

Because IBIT holds a large share of category assets and frequently draws more than half of daily flows, its daily figures act as a shorthand for institutional sentiment toward Bitcoin, the report says.

Open questions

  • Will inflows into rival Bitcoin ETFs grow enough to shrink IBIT's share of assets?
  • Does the October inflow signal a trend or was it a single modest day?
