According to a report from Phoronix, Dynamic PAMT, a feature that reduces memory overhead on Intel TDX servers, has been merged for Linux 7.4. It is aimed at machines that host only a small number of virtual machines at once.

What the feature addresses

Dynamic PAMT is intended to lower the memory overhead on servers equipped with Intel TDX. Its target is the case where a handful of concurrently running virtual machines fail to fill most of a machine's capacity, leaving memory that would otherwise be consumed by bookkeeping available for other uses.

Intel is a semiconductor and electrical company headquartered in Santa Clara. The firm was founded in 1968, and TDX is the platform on which the Linux change operates.
