SanDisk adds two portable SSDs in India, up to 4TB
SanDisk has widened its portable storage line in India with two solid-state drives, the higher-end Extreme Portable SSD and the standard Portable SSD. The company says the new drives offer faster transfers and capacities of up to 4TB.
Two models and their capacities
SanDisk has refreshed its portable storage lineup in India with the Extreme Portable SSD and the standard Portable SSD. According to the company's positioning, both drives are meant to deliver quicker transfers in modern workflows, with improved read speeds and storage that tops out at 4TB. The models are offered in 500GB, 1TB, 2TB and 4TB versions.
Extreme model built for large files
The Extreme Portable SSD sits at the top of the range and is aimed at people who regularly shift big files, including video editors and photographers. SanDisk says its bandwidth allows 1,000 high-resolution photos to be moved in under a minute.
The Extreme is housed in a ruggedised casing that offers up to three metres of drop protection and an IP65 rating against water and dust. It supports 256-bit AES hardware encryption, which scrambles data so only the holder of the key can read it, enabling password protection for sensitive files. The 1TB version is priced at Rs. 18,999 and carries a five-year limited warranty.
Standard model for students and office workers
The standard Portable SSD is a step down in both price and specification and is aimed at students and office workers for general file backup and media storage. Like the Extreme, it supports 256-bit AES hardware encryption for password-protecting sensitive files. The 2TB variant is priced at Rs. 18,999, according to the same report.
