What happened

Crusoe announced on November 6, 2026 that Google had acquired its data-center site in southeast Wyoming, completing Crusoe’s pre-development engagement on the project. Google is an Internet and software company based in Mountain View.

The disclosure therefore marks a development handoff after those preparations, with no new construction start or operating capacity announced. The partners introduced the project on July 24, 2025 as a 1.8-gigawatt AI data-center campus designed for expansion to as much as 10 gigawatts.

Those figures describe the announced design and expansion potential. It also drew on Tallgrass’s existing Wyoming natural-gas and water assets and the proximity of its CO2 sequestration hub for long-term carbon capture.

The hybrid strategy combines fuel cells, grid power and natural-gas turbines, with a long-term carbon-capture roadmap through Tallgrass’s regional CO2 sequestration hub. The work covered site selection, governmental approvals and a hybrid power strategy developed with Tallgrass Energy.

Chief executive and co-founder Chase Lochmiller characterized the pre-construction work as origination, entitlement and de-risking, positioning it for construction and eventual operation. Joint Development and Power Design Crusoe and Tallgrass initiated the campus through joint development of power and data-center infrastructure.

Their process coordinated energy-systems design, data-center engineering, site development and hyperscaler engagement concurrently, tying the electricity plan to the campus’s technical and commercial preparation.
