Beelink has put its ME Pro network storage device up for crowdfunding on Kickstarter, in two-bay and four-bay forms built around a motherboard that can be exchanged. The approach is intended to let owners boost performance or add drive bays as their storage requirements change.

Kickstarter campaign details

The company has launched the ME Pro on Kickstarter as a modular NAS available with either two or four drive bays. According to the announcement, reported by TechPowerUp, the system rests on a motherboard module that can be removed and replaced rather than being fixed in place.

Motherboard modules move between enclosures

A slide-out mechanism accommodates compatible Intel and AMD motherboard modules. The same module can be transferred between compatible two-bay and four-bay enclosures in either direction, which means a user enlarging their storage can retain the motherboard they already own rather than buying a complete new unit.

Lower noise and pre-installed software

The ME Pro applies cooling and vibration damping to reduce how much noise it produces during operation. It is supplied with Fygo OS already installed, covering file synchronisation, backup and remote access.
