What happened

French fleet management software startup Voltaback has raised €2.8 million from European investment fund Serena and several business angels, including Aurélien de Meaux, co-founder of Electra, and Maxime Brousse, Sequoia Scout. Voltaback has developed a software platform that operates with connected vehicle data to help companies manage their fleets without requiring additional hardware or equipment.

The company initially focused on helping employers reimburse employees for charging company electric vehicles at home. According to Voltaback, home charging can create administrative challenges for businesses, which need to separate work-related electricity consumption from an employee's personal usage and produce reimbursement documentation accepted by URSSAF. Voltaback's platform combines data from electricity bills, meters and connected vehicles to reconstruct individual home charging sessions and calculate their cost based on the employee's electricity contract.
