Percepto launches Axion, a software platform for inspection data analysis
Autonomous drone inspection provider Percepto has introduced Axion, a hardware-agnostic physical AI platform that analyses inspection data for critical infrastructure operators. According to The Robot Report, the launch marks the company's move toward a software-first strategy.
What Axion does
Axion groups inspection records by individual asset and applies AI that judges the condition of equipment within its operating setting. Percepto states that operators can examine data gathered by any third-party drone or sensor network, with the aim of averting equipment breakdowns before they worsen.
Customers can begin with inspection records they already keep, then bring in Percepto's autonomous systems and managed remote operations where coverage needs to be more frequent. The platform accepts information from supported drone platforms made by other vendors, from fixed and mobile sensors and from existing inspection archives, so a single hardware supplier is not mandatory.
Percepto says Axion can add value across mission-critical work, naming upstream oil and gas, power transmission and distribution, and most downstream processing plants. The company claims the platform converts data into actionable insights through more than 160 AI models.
A shift in company direction
Julien Bellanger has recently taken over leadership from longtime CEO Dor Abuhasira, and new revenue and marketing executives have also been appointed. Percepto said these changes signal its pivot from a hardware-centric maker of autonomous drones to a provider of physical AI in which software takes the central role.
The company asserts that its new management brings decades of independent experience across robotics, sensors, the Internet of Things, physical AI and cybersecurity. Percepto was founded in 2014, is based in Modi'in, Israel, and has a presence in the U.S.
Percepto plans to keep selling, deploying and supporting its current line of drones and drone docks alongside the new platform.
