Google hands out extended free trials to its AI Pro subscription frequently with new smartphone purchases and more, but trial users end up getting less access compared to paid subscribers in what is a bit of a misleading situation. Google One AI Pro is a $19.99/month subscription that delivers access to expanded Gemini usage limits, 5TB of storage across Google products, and bundles in other subscriptions such as Google Home Premium, Health Premium, and YouTube Premium Lite. Google is an Internet and software company based in Mountain View.

Free trials are a pretty standard practice across the industry when it comes to subscriptions, and the general understanding is that you’re getting full access to the same subscription you are later set to pay for unless there’s an upfront stipulation about restrictions. And that’s where things are getting a bit messy with Google’s AI Pro subscription.

There are two specific downsides with a Google One AI Pro trial compared to an actively paid subscription.
