Waveshare Releases 28×18 mm ESP32-S31-Zero Board with Wi-Fi 6
Waveshare has introduced the ESP32-S31-Zero, a compact board built around Espressif's new ESP32-S31 microcontroller, according to Hackster.io News. The board pairs a dual-core RISC-V processor with several wireless options in a footprint small enough for most embedded projects.

Hackster.io News reports that the ESP32-S31-Zero measures 28×18 mm while still offering Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4 and up to 32 MB of PSRAM. The outlet notes that development boards often grow as manufacturers add features, whereas this design keeps a considerable amount of capability within a small footprint.
Processor and memory of the ESP32-S31
At the heart of the board is Espressif's ESP32-S31 microcontroller, which hosts a 32-bit dual-core RISC-V processor running at up to 320 MHz. RISC-V is an instruction set that anyone may use without paying a licence fee. A separate low-power RISC-V core handles less demanding tasks, which Hackster.io News says helps avoid draining batteries.
Memory is split across several banks: the chip includes 512 KB of SRAM, a further 32 KB of low-power SRAM and 320 KB of ROM.
