WORLDTECHBmax unveils budget MaxBook X15 S Pro with 12 GB RAM and eight-year-old Core i3
Bmax has revealed the MaxBook X15 S Pro, an entry-level laptop built around an Intel Core i3 processor that is nearly eight years old. Notebookcheck reports that the machine combines that chip with 12 GB of RAM and a 1080p display.
Modest hardware for limited budgets
The laptop is aimed strictly at buyers with limited budgets who are willing to choose a lesser-known brand. Its Core i3 8109U chip has two cores and four threads, so performance is expected to be extremely modest.
The 15.6-inch IPS panel offers a resolution of 1920 x 1080. Details on colour reproduction and accuracy are unclear. Given the rest of the system, the display is described as serviceable but unlikely to go beyond that.
Benchmark results and limits
Benchmarks indicate that the nearly eight-year-old CPU manages roughly 2,000 points in the Cinebench R23 multi-core test, almost 500 points behind the Intel N150 found in many entry-level mini PCs, such as the Beelink S13 listed at $329 on Amazon.
The laptop appears suited only to very lightweight and casual workloads, such as web browsing, communications and lightweight office work.
Design shared with unbranded models
Nothing about the laptop appears unique. Its design and specifications reportedly match several unbranded laptops listed on Chinese websites such as Alibaba.
Bmax is described as a growing player in the mini PC and laptop segment, and the MaxBook X15 S Pro is its latest product in recent months.
