Sony unveils ECM-AX10 microphone for recording spatial audio on smartphones

What happened

Sony has unveiled the ECM-AX10, a compact USB-C (24-pin reversible connector that supersedes all previous USB connectors) microphone with four microphones that enables ambisonic, binaural, and stereo audio recordings on smartphones at up to 48 kHz/32-bit float. Designed for content creators, the dongle works with Sony’s Spatial Audio Video Tool app and provides support for formats including Eclipsa Audio and Sony 360 Reality Audio for immersive recordings. Sony is a video game and electronics company based in Minato, founded in 1946.
