In a bid to keep pace with competitors in the artificial intelligence sector, Alphabet’s Google has announced the launch of a new Gemini agent, designed for the workplace. The agent was unveiled yesterday (8 October) as part of Gemini at Work 2026 and was described by the company as a universal agent for work.

The AI tool has a number of core features and can operate across a range of Google’s applications, such as Gmail, Google Drive, Documents, Slides, Sheets, Chat and Calendar. Key capabilities include prompt-based questioning, content creation and coding, among others. Reportedly, versions designed for government, healthcare and retail employees will be created in the future.
