OpenAI delays IPO over AI safety concerns
First reported Source: Ars TechnicaLast editorial activity

What happened
OpenAI is seeking another $30 billion privately as its IPO (the sale of a company’s shares to the public on a stock exchange) plans slip. Altman said it was “bad for the world if OpenAI waits too long to go public” but that the $852 billion start-up would not “barrel all guns blazing towards an IPO” at a time when AI was rapidly advancing in capabilities. OpenAI is an artificial intelligence company based in San Francisco, founded in 2015.
