What happened

Bitcoin miner Riot Platforms this week repaid a $200 million credit facility from Coinbase Credit, releasing its collateral. The facility had been secured by a pledge of Riot’s financial assets, including Bitcoin, USDC and cash, which was held in the custody of Coinbase Custody Trust Company.

The miner has also continued to expand its data-center business, as Cointelegraph reported in August, when Riot Platforms secured a 20-year agreement to supply 191 megawatts of capacity from its Rockdale, Texas, campus to a “leading frontier AI” company. The Bitcoin miner has continued to expand its data-center business as well.

No early termination fees or penalties were incurred by Riot in connection with the prepayment or termination. The customer was Anthropic and the deal was valued at about $9 billion, Bloomberg subsequently reported , citing people familiar with the matter.
