CrowdStrike links South Korean bank breaches to AI tools and a China suspect

What happened

The suspect has not been named or charged, and South Korean authorities have not identified anyone. The person behind a wave of cyberattacks on South Korean banks may be a 26-year-old living in China’s Guangdong province, US cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike says. CrowdStrike is a computer security company based in Austin, founded in 2011, which employed about 7,900 people in 2024.
