Recognised again: Raspberry Pi and the London Stock Exchange’s Green Economy Mark
What happened
What the Green Economy Mark is Launched in 2019, the Green Economy Mark was the first initiative of its kind created by a global exchange. It was introduced by the London Stock Exchange as an independent, data-driven identification tool that considers the revenue-generating activities from products and services that contribute to the global green economy.
Rather than focusing solely on “pure-play” green businesses, the mark is designed to recognise companies and funds of all kinds — across every industry — whose products and services help drive the transition to a low-carbon, sustainable economy. Sustainability becomes meaningful to investors when it is reflected in realised revenues, rather than articulated solely as an ambition.
The GRCS is a data classification system managed by LSEG Data & Analytics to help investors identify revenues derived from activities that contribute to the green economy. Under the GRCS, products and services are categorised across 10 sectors, 64 sub-sectors, and 133 micro-sectors.
