‘Shopify of mobile apps’ bilt.me raises $700K to turn ideas into mobile businesses

What happened

Estonian AI app-building platform bilt.me has raised $700,000 in pre-seed funding in a round led by Superhero Capital , with backing from Bolt founder Markus Villig and Lightyear founder Martin Sokk . The company started as a hackathon project focused on overcoming Apple's app-testing restrictions and later evolved into a platform designed to make native app development accessible to more people.

Founded in August 2025 by Uku Joost Annus , Kevin Akkermann and Karl Kiilaspää , bilt.me is developing an AI agent (AI that carries out multi-step tasks rather than answering one question) that takes users from an initial idea to a live mobile application. Unlike AI app builders that primarily generate web applications, bilt.me focuses on native iOS and Android apps.

The company sees an opportunity in reducing the technical barriers to mobile app development, enabling people with ideas to build and launch products without going through the traditional development process. Building native applications also required the company to develop supporting infrastructure.
