Helsinki-based KHOY raises €2 million to take its vacuum-packed sofa beds across Europe and the US

What happened

KHOY Company, a Helsinki-based direct-to-consumer design and furniture company, has raised €2 million in growth funding. It makes sofa beds that are vacuum-packed into compact cardboard boxes, which expand to full size once opened at home.

The company was previously called KOTA and adopted the KHOY name in 2026, a change it says reflects its international ambitions, with the same team and ownership. The round was led by Finnish private equity investor Virta Equity, with participation from Innovestor and several angel investors. Founded in 2022 by Visa Friström, András Kelemen (Creative Director) and Jukka Salmikukka (COO), KHOY is a Finnish D2C design and furniture company that sells exclusively online.
