Spirit’s privacy ombudsman backs Google’s $10m data deal

What happened

In a report filed on 5 October, ombudsman Lucy Thomson said Spirit and Google had taken passenger databases out of the deal. Google won the auction with a $10m bid, Business Insider reported. Google is an Internet and software company based in Mountain View.

The proposed sale would include about 100 million emails, 500 million Microsoft Teams messages, employment contracts, employee and timecard records and payroll and tax information, Rep. The privacy official in Spirit Airlines’ bankruptcy has recommended approval of the sale of deidentified Spirit Airlines data to Google. Steven Horsford (D-NV) said in a press release.
