What happened

Rapidus, Japan’s state-backed chipmaker, has signed up 17 chip design firms to help it win customers before it starts making 2-nanometre (a label for how small and dense a chip’s circuitry is) chips. They include Synopsys and Cadence from the US, India’s Infosys, and Japan’s Dai Nippon Printing and Toppan, Jiji Press reported on Monday.
