Nigerian studio Xelabyte launches physics-based puzzle game MerjUp

Founded in May of this year by Xela Oladipupo, Xelabyte Studios is building its own consumer gaming IP rather than developing products for clients. In MerjUp , players toss cans into a play area, where matching cans collide and merge into higher tiers.

“The challenge comes from positioning, physics, chain reactions and trying to push your score higher without losing control of the board,” Oladipupo told Disrupt Africa. Oladipupo said the studio was not claiming to have invented a new genre.
