Pasqal leads €50 million EU neutral-atom quantum chip project
What happened
For Europe’s semiconductor and photonics industries, Q-PLANET could open new opportunities in quantum chip manufacturing, integrated laser technologies and advanced packaging. French quantum computing company Pasqal is leading a €50 million European initiative to develop industrial-grade chip components for neutral-atom quantum technologies.
The Q-PLANET pilot line brings together 28 partners from 11 European countries to build a European supply chain for quantum computing, sensing and communications. The three-year project, co-funded by the EU Chips Joint Undertaking (Chips JU) and national and regional authorities, is now moving into implementation following its launch in Brussels earlier this year. The initiative also aims to reduce Europe’s dependence on external suppliers for critical quantum components.
